VS-Dir FFA webmaster information - setting up Topics Pages
An e information article
..............................................................................................................
All Entries to your VS-Dir FFA are made to Topic Pages. You can virtually create an unlimited number of Topic Pages. Like your FFA Index Page, they will all be htm pages. You use the same form in the List Head Section that you used in creating the Index Page. When defining your Topic Pages, you will use more Form Sections, and make decisions on how people post Entries and Ads to your FFA Directory. Each Topic Page will be assigned a unique number called a LHID #.

Terms:
LHID: List Head Identification
LHID #: List Head Identification number

Starting with your Index Page (if that was the first page you created), each Topic you add to your FFA will be assigned a LHID#. You will see that number when you look at the list of Topics displayed in List Head below the top Blue Box area. LHID numbers identify each Topic Page in the system. You need to know the LHID # when you manually insert Entries or Ads. You will see LHID # shown in the Second Field in the list of FFA Entries in the List Body Section.

Adding Topics to your VS-Dir FFA:
Topics are like Catagories. You create Topic Pages which end-users will post FFA Entries or FFA Ads to. To set up a Topic:

1. Go to List Head.
2. Find the link: "Add a new directory listing or ad by clicking here."
3. Fill out these fields in the Form:

Name of list:
What you call this Topic Page interally.  For SEO purposes, it is probably a good idea to brand it. An example: Honeyhitz Free FFA Business Directory Section. It is not displayed to the website viewer.

Hidden: Leave blank

Filename:
One word with a .htm extension. If the topic is business, then the page will be business.htm

Title:
Like the Name of list, the title can be anything. As in Name, for SEO purposes you may want to brand it. An example: Honeyhitz traffic exchange FFA Business Directory. Title is displayed to the website viewer. It is a clickable link that takes the viewer to the Entries and Ads posted to that Topic. It also houses the link people click on to Add their own FFA entry. (If allowed.)

Description:
This text is displayed in the body of the Topic Page itself.

Top/Page Text:

Bottom/Page Text:

Random Ads Every:
Ads are independent from FFA Entries. Ads are governed by their own duration and sort, and are inserted in intervals you define. You can tell the script to insert and Ad ever so many Entries. Ads do not use up Entry Spots. Example: if you set your FFA topic page to accept 100 Entries, and then insert an Ad every 10 Entries, the viewer will actually see 100 FFA Entries AND 10 Ads

Restrictions:
Restrictions has a drop down box. This is where you determine who can add Entries to any Topic Page. They can be for the Public (email entry), for members only (member id), Paid only (paid insertion only), and Addition Not Allowed. Addition Not Allowed means only the FFA Admin / webmaster can post to that page. The default for Restrictions is No Restrictions. It is highly recommended you do not leave the default setting on. No restrictions can lead to autoposting and spamming of your topics.

LinkBack: When checked, the end-user must provide a link back to your website. The link back can be for any website the end-user has control over and may not be the actual page they are posting to the FFA. Obviously, if the link they are posting is an affiliate link, they cannot put a link back on the affiliate page. All that is necessary is the end-user put a link back to your site somewhere on a web-page that they control.

Capcha: This is a Human Code. Used primarily to discourage or prevent Robot auto FFA entries. Some servers do not integrate well or allow for Capcha, so always ask your provider if this feature works with their server. The best feature to use to help prevent autoposting to your ffa is to use a Restriction.

Limit List by:
Default Limit is by Number of Entries. You can choose to limit the FFA entry by Days. Choose the limit, then put a number in the Form Box. Examples: if you are limiting FFA entries to 100 per page, put 100 in the Form Box; if by days - decide the number of days and put that number in the Form Box. (30, 45, etc.)

Use of email address:
Send on Add:  // ...on Approve:  // ...on Reject:  // ...on Drop:
This defines when the script sends an email to the end-user. You can choose to send an email when the end-user saves an Entry for your review, once the Entry is Approved or Rejected, and one it rolls off the List.

Duplicate Domains:
The script always looks at what comes before the .extension. Default is not to accept Duplicate Domains. This will prevent affiliate members from posting entries to FFA Topics. If you want to allow Affiliate Marketers to post their affiliate links to a program / site on your VS-Dir FFA, check Allow.

Send data to main directory:
This defines whether an FFA Entry and content will be sent into Realm-12 so the link and content can be shared throughout the Search Engine Network.

Max. Description:
How many characters allowed for this field.

Extra Features:
       Allow Image:   in progress

Allow Keywords: This field is independent from Description and helps the End User SEO their FFA Entries.

Default Sort:
You have several ways to present FFA Entries and information to viewers. It can be by Alpha Title, Alpha url, or last entry posted. The sort applies ONLY to FFA Entries and does not affect any Ads displaying on the Topic Page.

Delete:
Use this function to delete unwanted Topics.

Save Changes Icon:
Once you have filled in the above fields, click on the Saved Changes icon. The script creates the specific htm Topic Page and assigns it an LHID #. This is the Record Number of that Topic. When end-users add FFA Entries, this is record number is displayed in List Body. When manually inserting an Entry or Ad into your FFA, you will need to know the LHID #.

Once your VS-Dir Topic Pages are created, you can manually insert FFA Entries and Ads.
